Students in grades 8-12 are invited to participate in Go For Launch! June 20-22, 2017 at Deerfield High School. The program will run from 9am-5pm on June 20 & 21 and 8am-4pm on the 22nd.
At Go For Launch! in Deerfield, students will work with Astronaut Don Thomas and other space & STEM professionals for 3 days. Space will be used as a launchpad for creativity and inspiration while we build teamwork, leadership and communication skills. Each team will define and design an experiment concept that they would like to see tested in space. The teams will present their ideas on the final day of the event and a winner from this event will be chosen. That event winning experiment will be competed against others in the same series (this happens virtually) and the overall series winner will have their experiment flown to the International Space Station. In 2016, the Deerfield event winning experiment was chosen as the overall winner and that experiment will fly into space later this year!
Go For Launch! is created such that that both STEM superstars and students with just a mild interest in STEM or space will enjoy this program.
Registration fee is $250 per student and includes all supplies, snacks & drinks throughout the day, lunch (of limited menu option), event t-shirt, event mission patch, space swag bag and more! Through the end of March you may use code SPACEINSPIRESIL to receive 25% of the registration fee. (This may not be combined with any other offer.) Register and find more information at this link.
